At the California Virtual Academies (CAVA), we are dedicated to achieving academic growth while cultivating social and emotional competence for all students. We foster a strong partnership between home and school to ensure that every student has the opportunity to engage, connect, and grow! Since 2002, we’ve provided a tuition-free, high-quality education to students across California. Our innovative use of technology and rigorous, interactive curriculum from K12 ensures that students in grades TK-12 receive a learning experience that meets their unique needs and learning styles.

Career & College Prep

Through our CAVA2College program, students can earn up to 15 college units by the time they graduate high school. We also offer certifications for job-ready skills, CTE pathways, and extensive support for college applications and financial aid.

Early Learning With Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Our TK program at CAVA provides a strong start in learning core concepts and developing essential skills through highly interactive virtual sessions. The curriculum is centered around engaging thematic units that resonate with young children, making learning fun and effective.

Advanced Learning Opportunities

We offer a wide range of AP® and honors courses to challenge our students and prepare them for higher education. While AP® courses provide college credit (subject to exam performance), our honors courses focus on enhancing skills in specific subjects, ensuring students are well-prepared for future academic endeavors.

Supportive Community

We believe in nurturing a strong community for our students and their families. Our comprehensive support includes tutoring services, social-emotional learning coaching, and interactive workshops.

Engaging Virtual and In-Person Extracurriculars

Education goes beyond academics. We offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including student-led organizations, esports, book fairs, science fairs, and more. These activities provide students with opportunities to socialize, develop new skills, and enjoy their educational journey.

Onboarding Support

Our comprehensive onboarding process supports both students and Learning Coaches. Our Compass Team offers live Q&A sessions, orientations, and one-to-one support at the start of each semester. This ensures that all families—new and returning—have the resources and guidance they need to transition smoothly and start strong.

Meaningful Connections

We facilitate meaningful connections that build relationships between students, Learning Coaches, and staff, helping students achieve their academic goals and nurture their social and emotional growth.

Learning Coaches

At CAVA, the parent or designated Learning Coach plays an active role in the student’s daily engagement and learning. Strong partnerships with families are essential to the work we do at school.

Daily Connection and Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Daily connections build relationships between students and teachers. By focusing on resilience, self-management, self-awareness, and executive function skills, we support social and emotional growth for all students.

Interactive Instruction

We are committed to providing rigorous, interactive, standards-based instruction. Our focus on empowering students as critical thinkers prepares them to master content, advance academically, and be ready for college, career, and adult life.

Opportunities for Connection

We offer in-person and virtual opportunities for students and learning coaches to connect, such as clubs, outings, and community service events. These experiences offer a well-rounded education, helping students build friendships and develop valuable life skills.
