Bridging High School and College: Discover CAVA2College

At California Virtual Academies (CAVA), we are committed to creating opportunities that prepare students for success in school and in life. One of the most exciting pathways available is CAVA2College, a dual enrollment program in partnership with Norco College and Irvine Valley College. This program allows eligible students throughout the state to take college courses while still in high school, earning credits that count toward both their high school diploma and future college degree.

What Is CAVA2College?

CAVA2College makes it possible for students in 10th grade and above to enroll in Norco College courses that satisfy both high school and college requirements. Students can begin working toward an associate degree or transferable credits while still in high school. The program is financially accessible. Enrollment, health, and tuition fees are waived. Families are only responsible for textbooks and other course materials.

In addition to general education classes, students now have access to specific pathways in Administration of Justice and Human Development through Irvine Valley College. These options allow students to explore career interests while earning college credits.

This partnership gives students the chance to experience college-level learning within the supportive CAVA environment.

How It Works

To participate, students must meet program eligibility requirements, maintain a qualifying GPA of 2.8 or higher, and work with their guidance counselor to select the right courses. Parent or guardian consent is required each semester. Once enrolled, students continue their CAVA classes while earning college credits that appear on both their high school and community college transcripts.

Why It Matters

Students in the CAVA2College program can graduate with up to 15 units of college credit already completed. This achievement saves both time and money as they continue their education. Early exposure to college-level coursework helps students build confidence and gain skills for a smoother transition into full-time college life. The program also removes financial barriers that often limit access to higher education, since tuition and fees are waived. These early successes provide momentum for many students and inspire them to pursue advanced degrees with greater determination and purpose.

Student Success

CAVA graduates regularly benefit from the CAVA2College program. Last year, 64 graduates participated in CAVA2College and met the requirements to earn a cord at graduation. Many of these students earned multiple college credits before finishing high school. These accomplishments show how dual enrollment is a powerful way to challenge students, prepare them for college expectations, and jumpstart both academic and career success. Families interested in this opportunity should connect with their student’s guidance counselor to learn more about eligibility, enrollment, and next steps.

Every CAVA student deserves the chance to explore their potential. CAVA2College makes that possible.
