Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAP)

A woman and a young girl collaborate on a laptop, engaged in a productive learning experience together.

The LCAP is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for local education agencies (LEA) to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs. As a condition of receiving Title I, Part A funding, a charter school that operates a Schoolwide Program (SWP) must develop and implement a comprehensive SWP plan, the LCAP will include this plan and Title I, Part A funded expenditures.

The California School Dashboard (Dashboard) is an online tool that shows how local educational agencies and schools are performing on state and local indicators that are included in California’s school accountability system. Built on the foundations of the Local Control Funding Formula state law, the Dashboard is one of several significant shifts that have occurred in California’s K–12 education system within the past decade, which includes the establishment of a new testing system, raising the bar for student learning, and promoting equity for all students. The Dashboard was created to give parents and the public a complete picture of what is happening in our schools and districts and to identify those that need extra support.
